The Education Minister says he “resents” the heave by Labour TDs and Senators against Eamon Gilmore.
Ruairí Quinn says he didn't want the Tánaiste to resign the party leadership - and says the 8 younger members of the party who were set to bring a motion of no confidence should have afforded Mr Gilmore some courtesy.
The Minister says he will have to wait to see who’s in the running for July’s leadership contest before endorsing any candidate - amid reports that Joan Burton is already attempting to drum up support.

Counting in two of Ireland's European parliament constituencies will resume this morning
Two seats have been filled in the south by Brian Crowley and Liadh Ni Riada, while two more MEP's have yet to be elected there.
There are still three seats to fill in the Midlands North West European constituency too, after Luke Ming Flanagan took the first yesterday.

380 new jobs have been announced for Galway, Athlone and Dublin.
The software firm SAP is creating 60 new Research and Development roles and 200 new technology support roles in Dublin and Galway by the end of this year.
While, Ericsson has announced over 120 software developers and programme manager positions for Dublin and Athlone.
