US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have picked their favourite books, films and songs of 2015 – and the President has gone for a Kendrick Lamar track as his number one of the year.

Speaking to People magazine, America’s Commander-in-Chief went for The Martian, the Ridley Scott sci-fi blockbuster, as his favourite film of the year, while the First Lady went for Inside Out, the touching Pixar film that, literally, brings human emotions to life and looks set to contend at the Oscars.

On songs, Kendrick Lamar’s How Much a Dollar Cost, from the critically lauded To Pimp a Butterfly album, was Barack’s number one of the year, with Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars getting Michelle’s vote.
