IS forces have almost entirely captured Palestinian refugee camp near Damascus

Islamic State has taken control of 90 per cent of a Palestinian refugee camp on the outskirts of the capital Damascus.

The capture of the Yarmouk camp gives the jihadist group a foothold just a few kilometres from President Bashar al-Assad's seat of power.

A parade to mark the Easter Rising is also taking place in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

The socialist republican party Eirigi, will travel from Townsend Street to Liberty Hall from 4pm.

The group have criticized the Government for their plans to commemorate the Rising, by remembering the lives of Irish and English people equally.

Irish Refugee Council says 'fast track' reform does not go far enough

The Irish Refugee Council has expressed concern that plans to speed up the asylum process don't go far enough.

Its reported the government is due to announce a "Fast Track" system which would process asylum applications within six months for those who've been living in Direct Provision for more than five years.

There are reports that a Connacht Rugby player has been arrested by police in the UK.

It's believed that Mils Muliaina has been taken into questioning by Gloucestershire police, following a match against Gloucester last night.

News of the arrest broke during the post-march press conference.
