"This is absolute scaremongering" Jan O'Sullivan on changes to teaching about marriage in schools

The Education Minister spoke to Lunchtime this afternoon

The Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan says teaching about relationships in schools will not be affected by the Same Sex Marriage referendum if it passes.

Last week a group of teachers advocating a No vote this Friday, said that if the referendum is passed they would be obliged to teach a new model of marriage to children.

Ms O'Sullivan says the ethos of religious schools is protected under the law.

The tribute has come from the head of the Irish Film Academy, where the Ana was a student.

Ana (18) who was from Dalkey, became ill during a night out in the city centre at the weekend and died in hospital yesterday.

Cause of death not established in case of bodies discovered in Limerick

Gardai say a cause of death has not yet been established following a post-mortem on the bodies of a man and a woman found at a farmhouse in Askeaton, County Limerick.

They say that further testing is now required - and this may take some days.

Detectives also say the bodies have yet to be positively identified. 

However, the have been named locally as 56-year-old Thomas Ruttle and 65-year-old Julia Holmes.

All 170 arrested bikers could face death penalty over Waco shootout

Some 170 bikers are facing murder charges - and potentially the death penalty - after nine people were killed during a shootout between rival motorcycle gangs in Waco, Texas.

A fist fight broke out in the bathroom of the Twin Peaks restaurant before spilling into a car park as the bikers attacked each other with clubs, chains and knives before opening fire.

Eight of the bikers died at the scene on Sunday, with another dying in hospital.

Mothers and Fathers Matter has claimed people campaigning for a No vote in Friday's Same Sex Marriage Referendum are being bullied by those supporting a yes vote.

The organisation has launched a new video in which two gay men outline their reasons for voting no on Friday.

In it they raise concerns about the treatment of people who are campaigning for a no vote.
