Prince Charles visits Mullaghmore
Prince Charles has arrived in Mullaghmore, the village where his beloved great-uncle Lord Mountbatten was murdered 35 years ago.
He earlier spoke of the loss of the "grandfather I never had" at the hands of the IRA, and described current UK relations with the Irish Republic as a "blessed era of friendship".
The Prince of Wales was speaking in County Sligo, close to where the peer was blown up by a bomb on his boat near his holiday home in 1979.
Body found in Limerick formally identified as wanted woman Julia Ruttle
It has been confirmed that the body of a woman found in a house in Limerick is that of Julie Holmes Ruttle.
Ms Holmes Ruttle was discovered alongside the remains of a man in a house in Askeaton on Monday.
She was wanted by Gardai, the PSNI and the FBI on fraud charges.
€8.5m settlement approved for boy who suffered catastrophic birth injuries
The High Court has approved an €8.5m final settlement for a boy (12), who suffered catastrophic birth injuries at the Coombe Hospital.
Eoin Dunne from Malahide in Dublin has dyskinetic cerebral palsy, is wheelchair dependant and can not communicate verbally.
Two years ago the hospital was found liable for his injuries, and he received an interim compensation payment of €2.9m.
Michael Noonan: Exclusion is the worst pain gay people suffer
The finance minister has spoken of his hopes for Friday's referendum
Ahead of the vote on same-sex marriage on Friday, Finance Minister Michael Noonan has spoken of why he hopes the measure will pass.
"The worst thing of all in society is to be excluded...and gay people are being excluded for a long time," he said.
Mr Noonan says while Irish society has been moving to include people over the last generation, we still have one more step to go.
Man jailed for life for 2013 murder in Dublin's Phoenix Park
Ciaran Moran had denied murder, but last week changed his plea
A man has been jailed for life for the murder of a homeless man in the Phoenix Park.
Ciaran Moran (29), who is also homeless, changed his plea to guilty mid-trial - finally admitting that he had killed Gerard Donnelly with a lump hammer before setting him on fire in November 2013.
Gardaí initially thought they had come across a mannequin when they found the burning body of Mr Donnelly in bushes by the Wellington Monument in the Phoenix Park.
