Isis bombs claim 107 casualties in Iraq

Two car bombs claimed by Islamic State have killed at least 32 people and wounded 75 others in the centre of the southern Iraqi city of Samawa.

The first blast was near a local government building and the second one about 60m away at a bus station, police sources said.

Coveney expects Government by Thursday

Senior figures in Fine Gael have said that they expect a new Government to be in place by Thursday of this week.

Defence and Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney is hopeful his party will be able to strike a deal with Independent TDs to see Enda Kenny elected Taoiseach in the coming days.

Fine Gael need six more TDs to support them before they can set up a minority-led administration.

 

Kate Middleton releases photos to mark Princess Charlotte's first birthday

Britain's Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William have released photographs of their new child to celebrate her first birthday on Monday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they are also known, released four images of Princess Charlotte at her home in Norfolk which were taken by Middleton earlier this month.

 

Obama burns Trump and Hillary at last correspondents’ dinner

Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders were among the targets in a speech by U.S. President Barack Obama last night.

He was speaking at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, an annual gathering that's been running since 1920.
