Iceland-native Thordarson was only 17 when he volunteered for WikiLeaks in February 2010. After earning the trust of Assange, Thordarson was put in charge of WikiLeak’s chatroom - the teenager would ultimately hand-over 2,000 pages worth of logs to the FBI.

During his time with WikiLeaks, 'Siggi' would also come into contact with hacking collective Lulzsec, asking them to hack Icelandic government files. Many of his contacts in the group were arrested in an unrelated FBI investigation.

In 2011, Thordason - described as “prone to lying” in a new Wired profile - contacted the FBI and began sharing information about WikiLeaks with them, including hard-drives full of data and even photocopies of Assange’s passport. The ‘relationship’ led to several meetings between Thordason and American agents, culminating in a three-day trip to the States.

The visit to America came after Thordason was fired from WikiLeaks for ‘embezzling’ approximately €38,000 from an online WikiLeaks t-shirt shop. The FBI eventually paid him a tenth of that amount for his services. 20 year-old Thordason is currently facing criminal charges for financial and tax reasons in Iceland.
