Following on from Saoirse Ronan's Oscar nominated turn in Brooklyn and Catriona Balfe's Golden Globe nod for Outlander, meet the latest Irish actress shaking her shillelagh at the shamrock-green glass ceiling that exists for our female stars in Hollywood.
Love/Hate star Ruth Negga, who had a recurring role in the second series of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, has been cast as the fashion loving Tulip O Hare in AMC's hugely-hyped Preacher, a supernatural-comic-horror series, based on the DC graphic novel of the same name.
Starring Negga's real-life boyfriend Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, a West Texan preacher who becomes possessed by a supernatural creature, the TV series also features an Irish vampire (played by British actor Joseph Gilgun) and - according to Negga, 'excessive violence'. So there will be none of the usual sobbing into the lovely guna and gas craic all together nonsense that's come to define the Irish abroad.
Tulip's a bad ass...and if you don't want to take our word for it, take a looksie at this clip which dropped this weekend and sees Negga - as Tulip, convincingly fighting off an attacker, while driving a car.
The show is set to premiere in America on Sunday, May 22nd and the following day on AMC Global.
