A teenager who collapsed earlier this week while trying to protect his home from flooding has made a recovery and has said he will continue to help his widowed mother protect their home against the floods.
15-year old Philip Kinsella suffered fom a severe asthma attack while working alongside his two brothers at their home near Clonlara in County Clare.
Philip and his mother Bridget spoke to Newstalk Lunchtime today about the incident: "“I couldn’t breathed so my mother called an ambulance… when they arrived, they gave me oxygen and a nebulizer for about a good hour."
“Afterwards I was brought to a regional hospital.”
Philip was left on the trolley for three hours where his mother kept an eye on him. It was only after she contacted a doctor that he left the hospital and walked across the road for care.
“I was so tired from all the work I had been doing, I fell asleep.
“My mother kept an eye on my breathing and she knew I was wheezing so she went out and rang the Shannon Doc, a few minutes later she came back in and walked me across the road.”
