The Taoiseach has said a report into the resignation of Martin Callinan as Garda Commissioner may not be released until after the next election.
In response to queries from Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin, Enda Kenny said it is not up to him to decide how long it will take for justice Niall Fennelly to finish his report on the issue.
“If Deputy Martin wants to question the integrity or the competence of the sole member in producing a final report. It’s not for me to comment on that.”
The report was delayed until after the conclusion of the Ian Bailey case, for fear it might overlap with Mr Bailey's legal action.
The Taoiseach says he will publish the report whenever it's done, but he won't allow the judge to be rushed
“I’ve already been very clear ... this is a matter for the sole member of the commission and I said when the report is received by me I will publish it in accordance with the law,” Mr Kenny said.
