The Taoiseach says the government will sell the Bord Gais Energy business when there is "a proper offer".
It comes after all the bids for the non-transmission side of the business were deemed too low.
This is being blamed the difficult international trading environment in the energy sector.

The coalition had hoped to get at least €1.5 billion for the business but it is understood the highest offer was just over €1 billion.
Enda Kenny has told the Dáil the company remains for sale, while the Energy Minister Pat Rabbitte says when the price is right he will sell.
