The Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney begin a five day trip to Japan this morning.
The main objectives of the visit are to increase Ireland’s trade, economic, and political relationship with Japan and to explore potential areas for the future between the two countries.
The Agriculture Minister is accompanying the Taoiseach to highlight the potential for co-operation in the agri-food sector.
Over the next five days, Enda Kenny will give a keynote address on 'current and future developments in Ireland-Japan relations in a globalised world' at the Japan Institute of International Affairs and meet with Prime Minister Abe.
