The Taoiseach Enda Kenny is facing further calls to say whether he is one of three people called to give further evidence to the Fennelly Commission.
Mr Kenny last night refused to say whether he had been called to give further evidence surrounding the resignation of Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan.
The commission is due to issue its interim report on Mr Callinan's resignation in the coming weeks.
The investigation says three witnesses had to be called back, to deal with allegations made by others.
But the Taoiseach says he is bound by confidentiality and cannot say if he was one of the people called back.
Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams says he has himself given evidence to the inquiry - and cannot understand why Mr Kenny will not give an answer.
