Suzuki has unveiled two new concept vehicles at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. First of the two is the iK2, which we have been told will be available from early 2016. The second concept vehicle is the iM4 and the manufacturer is currently developing a production model.
iM4
The iK2, which will be available in Ireland from early 2016, is built on a New Generation platform which has been designed to increase rigidity and reduce weight. Changes to the underbody are said to improve fuel efficiency, “safety, handling, stability, and NVH performance across the board.”
We’re also told that it houses an all-new Boosterjet 1.0 litre direct-injection turbo engine. Suzuki says that this new engine will increase fuel efficiency by “by reducing engine displacement, with output and torque boosted with a turbocharger.”
The iM4 is an A-segment 4x4 concept vehicle. This too will be built on the New Generation platform. We’ve been informed that this concept vehicle contains SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild hybrid system, which features lithium-ion batteries. This uses an ISG (integrated starter generator) and gives the engine power assistance thus giving the machine power regeneration.
