Support for the Labour party has fallen in the latest political opinion poll.

The Red C poll for tomorrow’s Irish Sun shows the party win the support of only 8 per cent of voters - down 3 points from the last poll two weeks ago.

The poll reflects a general election and not the local elections in five days’ time.

But even still, there’s cause for Eamon Gilmore to be worried - with Fine Gael’s vote holding firm during the latest Garda scandals, while Labour’s support has fallen.

The poll 0f 1,010 voters between last Monday and Wednesday shows Labour support down three points to 8 - while at the same time Fine Gael remains unchanged on 25.

Fianna Fáil’s dropped one point to 20, while Sinn Féin gains two points - and now also stands on 20.

Independents and other smaller parties are up 2 points to 26 - a vote which would mean huge gains for independents if it translates into the elections next Friday.
