Strike action planned for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda tomorrow has been suspended.
It follows a meeting between representatives of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) and the Health Service Executive (HSE) with the Labour Relations Commission (LRC).
Members of the INMO were due to hold a lunchtime protest on Wednesday to highlight the issue of overcrowding at the hospital.
However following the eight hour meeting yesterday, they have agreed to suspend the action pending further talks.
The INMO says more talks will be held on November 27th and December 4th - while the LRC will reconvene on December 10th.
Speaking last night, INMO industrial relations officer Tony Fitzpatrick said: "The INMO welcomes the proactive engagement of management in talks under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission on the complex and challenging issues that need to be addressed to end the severe and deteriorating overcrowding in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital."
"However matters require significant further engagement and action. It is necessary that the parties work to agree resolutions in order to protect patients and ensure the health, safety and well-being of over-stretched members."
