The promoter of Garth Brooks Croke Park concerts says he is not giving up hope that all five shows can still be performed at the venue.
Peter Aiken said all options are being explored but that Brooks is adamant he will do five shows or none at all.
Aiken says a final decision on the situation will be made on Monday or Tuesday next week. The promoter warned that compromise on the part of himself or Brooks is not possible.
Speaking to Red FM, Aiken said: “You can’t compromise on something at this level. He’s come to Croke Park because he loved it when he was there seventeen years ago, he came back, we spent a long time with him there.
"You can't take 80,000 people and say: 'Oh, let's go to somewhere that holds 40,000' - what do you do with the 40,000 that would turn up?
"You cannot take something that was designed for a certain stadium and move it somewhere else."
Brooks is said to have been heavily involved in the planning process, visiting GAA HQ in person to plan the show.
“He’s been there in every decision. He’s been there when people didn’t know, walking the length of the pitch, looking at things," Aiken said.
Mr Aiken says he has no insurance - as you cannot get insurance without a licence - and therefore he's set to incur costs of up to seven figures, if all five shows are cancelled.
He says crews have been commissioned for five concerts and that all the equipment and set has been custom made for Croke Park - so therefore moving to another venue would be difficult.
