Women who survived the procedure of symphysiotomy in child birth look set to get the law changed so they can seek compensation in the courts.
Newstalk understands the coalition will accept a Sinn Féin motion in the Dáil tonight that will temporarily lift the 'statute of limitations' that is preventing legal cases being taken.
It is understood around 200 women who underwent the brutal procedure are still alive. But it remains unclear how many wish to mount a legal battle.
