The son of Sinn Fein TD Aengus Ó'Snodaigh is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed.

The teen (18) was attacked in his home on the Old Naas Road in Bluebell, Dublin in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was taken to St James' Hospital - where gardaí say he's in a serious condition.

It is understood the victim knew the man who stabbed him - who is now at large. Gardaí are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them.

The Sinn Féin leader, Gerry Adams, says it's a very difficult time for the family and he wishes their son Fearghal a speedy recovery.

“This is a shocking time for the family. We wish young Fearghal well and we wish the family well and people who don’t share our politics will be at one with us when we say everybody hopes that the young fella pulls through and that he gets better as quickly as possible," Adams said.
