Two more people have been arrested by gardaí in Waterford as part of a crackdown against organised crime.

It follows the arrests of six people yesterday morning as part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation.

Those men and woman - aged from their mid-20s to their mid-50s - were detained yesterday morning.

They have been held overnight at various garda stations across Waterford. They are being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The arrests followed on from searches carried out on June 3rd by gardaí based in Waterford division, assisted by officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB), regional support units, organised crime unit, air support unit and garda dog unit.

The man (32) and woman (21) arrested today are being held at Dungarvan garda station.

While two of the people arrested in raids yesterday have been released without charge, with a file to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
