The family of four Dublin siblings being held in Egypt are still waiting to hear if they have appeared in court.

The Halawas have been in custody since the weekend and it is believed they were due before a prosecutor today to hear if there are any charges against them.

However the sister of the four Irish citizens being detained in Egypt says she is relieved to hear that they are all OK.

The four siblings from Firhouse in Dublin have been missing since taking refuge in a mosque in Cairo during violence last Friday.

This morning it emerged that the four had met a Turkish diplomat who was visiting another person in their prison.

Earlier a group of people from both Ireland and Egypt held a protest outside the Egyptian embassy in Dublin calling for their release.

Omaima Halawa (20), her two sisters Fatima, (22), Somaia, (27), and their younger brother Ibrihim (17), were among hundreds of people cleared out of the al Fath mosque when security forces stormed the building on Saturday.

Hundreds of Morsi supporters also fled to the building in the Ramses area of Cairo shoving furniture against the doors to stop police from breaking their way in.

Omaima Halawa spoke from the mosque to Al Jazeera during the height of the violence.

Nusayba Halawa says she was mostly concerned about her brother Ibrahim.

But speaking at the Egyptian embassy in Dublin earlier, she says if they have not been freed yet they could spend another night in custody.
