Sinn Féin's Lynn Boylan has won the first European seat in the Dublin constituency.
Boylan topped the poll in the capital, winning 83,264 first preference votes, and was confirmed to have reached the quota after the third count.
She became the first of Ireland's 11 MEPs to be elected.
The second and third seats in the constituency have yet to be decided. With Fine Gael's Brian Hayes, Green Party leader Eamon Ryan, Fianna Fáil's Mary Fitzpatrick and Independent candidate Nessa Childers still in the mix. None of them have reached the quota of 88,144 yet.
Labour's Emer Costello has been eliminated.
Lynn Boylan - a relative unknown in Dublin politics told Newstalk's Jonathan Healy she is overwhelmed and never expected to do so well in the elections:
The candidate has been in celebratory mood since her arrival at the RDS earlier this evening.
Mary Lou McDonald, Sinn Féin Vice-President, congratulated Boylan on Newstalk earlier this evening:
