Gardaí say last night's shooting in Dublin, which has left a child in a serious condition in hospital, is an isolated incident and they do not believe the attack is linked to organised crime.
A six year old boy is being treated at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, after he was shot in the neck in the Croftwood housing estate in Ballyfermot at around 10 o'clock last night.
The boy was wounded after men pushed open the door of a house and shot into the hallway - missing their intended target.
Gardaí say they are still unsure whether there were one or two suspects involved - but say they are following a definite line of enquiry.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Reporter David Blevins says police could find it difficult to gather information.
