Several people have been injured in a stabbing at a McDonalds restaurant in the UK, according to police.

Officers were called to the scene at a shopping centre in Harpurhey in north Manchester at around 2:35pm today.

Local police said their initial investigation suggested several injuries.

North West Ambulance Service, meanwhile, told Manchester Evening News that a male had been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the leg.

A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of assault, and has been taken into custody for questioning.

Greater Manchester Police have said the stabbing is not being linked to terrorism.

A cordon has been put in place, with photos published online showing forensic officers examining the scene.
