48-year-old Charles Thomas Barry of Florida thought he could use his badge and gun to get a discount at his favorite doughnut joint. The one problem according to investigators; Barry is not a police officer.
A cashier at the New Port Richey store became suspicious of Barry when he started coming in on weekends with family members and decided to write down Barry's license plate number and report him to authorities.
The Times reports that while Barry's father was once a police officer in New Jersey, Barry has never served on the force. Pasco County deputies also say they are not allowed to accept discounts at area businesses.
Barry is facing charges of impersonating an officer and improper exhibition of a firearm. He has been freed after posting $5,150 bail.
