Dustin Diamond - best known for playing Screech in US hit comedy Saved by the Bell - has died aged 44.
In a statement, the actor's representatives say he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer just three weeks ago.
They've described Mr Diamond - who played the character Screech for 13 years, across the main series and later spin-offs - as a "humorous and high-spirited individual".
The statement said: "We are saddened to confirm of Dustin Diamond’s passing on Monday, February 1st, 2021 due to carcinoma.
"He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago. In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution.
"Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful."
It adds that Mr Diamond was an "unpredictable spitfire who always left us shocked, but never left us bored".
As well as his Saved by the Bell role, Mr Diamond appeared on reality shows such as Celebrity Fit Club and Celebrity Boxing 2.
