Today

Early fog patches will lift this morning to leave a dry and bright day across the bulk of the country with spells of sunshine.

However, it will turn cloudier in the northwest during the day with the risk of some patchy rain, mainly in coastal districts.

Maximum temperatures will range from 16 or 17 degrees in the northwest to 21 or 22 degrees in the southeast.

Southwest winds will freshen with strong breezes developing along western and northern coasts.

Tonight

Outbreaks of rain will move in across Connacht and Ulster overnight, spreading to north Leinster later in the night.

Elsewhere it will hold largely dry but with increasing amounts of cloud and some mist.

Minimum temperature will range 11 to 14 degrees in moderate breezes.
