Comedian and author Russell Brand has joined the water charges debate, using his latest Trews video to discuss “the water meter situation in Ireland”.
The video is mostly a mix of a BBC news report on the water charges situation and Brand’s commentary and analysis of the situation.
Brand discusses Ireland's previous water taxation system, the new system, issues with the water supply and goes on suggests the foreign companies based in Ireland, and using tax loopholes, should foot the bill for Irish Water. He also talks about the Irish Water protests, saying: “Because the Irish are used to having to kick off against Britain for years, when there’s a protest they can organise it quite well."
Whether you agree with Brand's stand on the water charges or not, his mock Irish accent will likely prove a bit much to take.
