A wedding DJ who pulled out of numerous wedding gigs by falsely texting couples to say his father died will face further charges, a Coleraine court has heard.
Michael Stockman was already convicted of taking more than €1000 from six couples before cancelling at the last minute or simply failing to turn up.
On at least four of these occasions, Stockman also claimed his father had died that morning or the day before, in order to get out of his performance at the couples’ reception.
Now, after the media coverage of the case in the local area, more allegations have now come forward.
Judge Liam McNally was due to sentence Stockman, 30, today, but adjourned the case for two weeks to allow the DJ’s lawyer prepare for the new counts of theft.
“It’s certainly my intention that every aggrieved party gets the money back that they are owed by Mr Stockman,” Judge McNally said.
Stockman is due to appear in court again on September 19th.
