Customs officers have seized €64,000 of alcohol and cigarettes in two separate seizures in Dublin yesterday.

Some €53,000 worth of alcohol - including beer, wine and spirits - was seized from an unlicensed trader in the north of the city.

Revenue say the trader failed to acknowledge a warning letter from them, and continued to trade without an appropriate excise license.

Meanwhile, two men in their 30s were arrested after €11,000 worth of cigarettes were seized at Dublin Airport.

The Romanian and Portuguese nationals had travelled from Moldova. 'Marlboro Gold', 'Kent' and 'Winston' cigarettes were all seized.

The pair were remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill Court next Tuesday.
