Revenue officers have seized four million cigarettes worth just over €2m, in a container on the M1 motorway in Dublin.
It had travelled from Bangladesh via Singapore and Rotterdam and arrived into Dublin Port on Saturday.
The "Wilson" and "Shahara" cigarettes, were described on the manifest as "black tea" and represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €1.7m.

Investigations into the importation are continuing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes.
