A ginger-haired right-wing extremist wrote about killing Prince Charles in the hope of making his red-headed son Harry king, a court has heard.

In a notebook seized by police, Mark Colborne, 37, also compared himself to the far-right mass murderer Anders Breivik, who carried out the 2011 Norway attacks, a jury at the Old Bailey was told.

Colborne, who was arrested on 3 June last year, is accused of preparing terrorist acts.

As well as plotting against the Royal Family, Colborne is also alleged to have been planning an attack on ethnic minorities using cyanide.

Prosecutor Annabel Darlow QC told jurors in the notebook, Colborne had said he wanted to kill "dark-haired" people.

The court had previously heard Colborne had a "troubled" childhood and felt marginalised because he was a white, ginger-haired male.

He allegedly wrote in one entry dated 28 April 2013: "I want them to see my transition from poor red-haired victimised minority that is constantly walked over to a fully transformed military terrorist striking at the hearts of the bigoted, tyrannical rulers and of course the dark-haired, dark-eyed Caucasian race.

"I will fight for the reclassification of my race as well. I will be heard through terror."

In notes from May and June 2012, a court heard he wrote: "I don't want to be a serial killer.

"I'm more of an Anders Breivik. I have left potential targets open.

"I was waiting for an opportunity to kill one of them. Let it be Prince Charles which would be good."

He went on to state he wanted a "silent rifle", adding: "Take up a good position and put a bullet in Charles' head.

"He is protected but not too protected. I would sacrifice my life for that one shot. Kill Charles and William and Harry become king. Kill the tyrants."

In another entry, he wrote: "If I had the right weapon like a military grade sniper rifle, I would take out Prince Charles and a few others for the Aryan people."

And in a third entry, he stated: "The first chance I would get with a rifle if he crosses my path is to murder Prince Charles."

In his notes Colborne also referred to his racial hatred for non-Aryans, and ranted about the killers of black teenager Stephen Lawrence when they were sent to jail, the court heard.

The trial had previously heard how Colborne, who suffered from depression and agoraphobia, searched online for explosives and poisons.

He successfully obtained the constituent ingredients of cyanide, as well as a chemical which helps poison penetrate through skin.

He also acquired small glass spray bottles which the prosecution said could be used to transport and spray cyanide at his victims.

In his bedroom, police also found guide books on poisonous chemicals and explosive devices, one of which was called The Poor Man's James Bond.

They were alerted to his alleged activity by his half brother Kevin, who found receipts for chemicals as he was preparing to decorate the home he shared with the defendant and their mother.

Colborne denies the charge against him.

The trial continues.
