A new opinion poll shows Sinn Féin is on course to make massive gains in the city and county council elections.
The Behaviour and Attitudes poll for the Sunday Times shows the party on 17 per cent of the vote - more than double its vote five years ago.
The poll of 1,545 voters was conducted between May 3 and 14 - and also shows Sinn Fein set to win seats in all three European constituencies.
Fine Gael's support is currently at 25% - down 7 on the party's result in 2009. Labour 7% - down 8, Fianna Fail 22%- down 3, Sinn Féin 17% up 10, and Independents and others 30%, up 13.
