Polish national suffered "brutal death" in Donegal

Gardai in Donegal have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body of a man in Letterkenny.

A postmortem has shown that the Polish national Bogdan Michalkiewicz suffered serious injuries in an attack but have not confirmed how he died.

The body of Mr. Michalkiewicz, who's in his early forties, was discovered in an apartment in the lower main street area of the town at 11 o'clock on Wednesday morning.

He had been living in Ireland for the last seven years.

Inspector Michael Harrison said Bogdan was last seen at lunchtime on Monday May 13th outside his apartment, and his body was found on Wednesday morning at 11am.   

"The Assistant State Pathologist has confirmed that Bogdan suffered a brutal death, and this has now been upgraded to a murder investigation," he added.

 Gardaí are seeking information from the public regarding any unusual or suspicious activity that they may have observed in the Westside Apartments, Lower Main Street, Pearse Road area of Letterkenny between Friday 10th May 2013 and the evening of Tuesday 14th May 2013.
