Plans to introduce plain cigarette packaging are expected to be rolled out to Northern Ireland.

Proposed legislation here aims to ban all forms of branding such as logos on tobacco products and introduce large health warnings on packets from May 2016.

Northern Ireland Health Minister Jim Wells has confirmed plain packaging proposals for the North will be included in proposals to ban branding on tobacco products in England and Wales.

MPs will vote on the idea before the general election in May.

Scottish minsters have also signalled their support for the measure.
