The number of homeless children in Dublin has doubled in a year.
Figures due to be published by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive today show that in the week between the 23rd and 29th of November there were 1,466 children in emergency accommodation.
The Irish Times reports this is a 98% increase on November 2014, when the figure stood at 741.
In total there were 705 families in emergency accommodation in Dublin at the end of November.
There has, however, been a reduction in the number of families becoming homeless this month. 60 families presented as homeless in November, compared with 72 in October and 70 in September.
The report also reveals a rise in the number of homeless adults entering tenancies, from 545 in the first nine months of last year to 739 during the same period this year.
