Today has been a busy day in Hollywood for movies based on real people!

First up, we've got the Neil Armstrong biopic. Based on the novel First Man: A Life Of Neil, original director Clint Eastwood has stepped down and been replaced by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash). Chazelle will be bringing along Ryan Gosling to play Armstrong, and they are currently working together on La La Land, set within the world of jazz music.

The book is being adapted by Josh Singer, who made his name writing for The West Wing, and is currently riding high on a wave of Oscar buzz surrounding his adaptation for upcoming procederual thriller Spotlight.

Secondly, we have Evil Knievel, with Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monaghan (The Departed) taking on the task. Monaghan is teaming up with the producer of The Wolf Of Wall Street, which has many people speculating that director Martin Scorsese might make this his next project once he's finished the 19th century religious drama Silence and a currently uncast biopic Sinatra.

Until quite recently, Matthew McConaughey was lined-up for the lead role in Pure Evel, while Channing Tatum was also rumoured to play Knievel for director Darren Aranofsky (Black Swan), but neither projects worked out. If Scorsese does take the project on, it wouldn't be a too much of a jump (geddit?) to think he might cast his Wolf Of Wall Street star McConaughey.
