NAMA has dismissed the latest allegations by independent TD Mick Wallace - who says one official in the agency was part of a "cabal" trying to make money out of the sale of its Northern Ireland loans.

In a statement, NAMA say the claims were "scurrilous, unsubstantiated" and "utterly disingenuous".

It also disputes claims that it misled Deputy Wallace in replies to his questions about the sale of the Northern loans - saying he had deliberately misinterpreted its letters.

A NAMA spokesman said: "Today's claims are utterly disingenuous and appear to be a deliberate misinterpretation of NAMA correspondence by Deputy Wallace".

"Deputy Wallace has been unable to substantiate any of the false claims of wrongdoing by NAMA that he has made over the past number of months. Today's claims are no different".

"It is not clear why Deputy Wallace continues to make false claims that he cannot substantiate", he added.

NAMA says Deputy Wallace has "falsely accused" the agency of giving untrue answers to his questions.

"In a letter dated 28th October 2015, Deputy Wallace asked NAMA: Did Ronnie Hanna, along with Frank Cushnahan or David Watters, ever meet with any US investment fund personnel? NAMA's response was: No, Mr. Hanna had no such meetings with these individuals", the agency says.

"At no stage did NAMA ever claim to Deputy Wallace that Ronnie Hanna never met with US investment funds. Meeting these funds was part of his job as head of asset recovery. He never met them with the two people named in Deputy Wallace's question".

Using Dáil privilege earlier, the Wexford TD named one NAMA official and claimed he had offered insider information to the buyers of the loans.
