A murder investigation has been launched in Northern Ireland after a man was discovered with serious injuries in Belfast.

The man was found in the Cupar Street area of the city just after 8pm last night.

He passed away in hospital a short time later.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Officers remain at the scene and cordons are in place.

PSNI detectives are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who may have any other relevant information, to contact them.
