A motorcyclist in his 20s has died after a road crash in Co Cork.

The man was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with a car on the Drimoleague to Skibbereen Road, outside of Skibbereen, this afternoon at around 4pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.

The stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an forensic examination, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Skibbereen Garda station on 02-823-088.
