A motorcyclist has died in a road crash in Co Kerry.

The motorcyclist - a man in his 50s - was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a car, on the N70, between Kenmare and Sneem, at Lackeen, Blackwater.

The collision happened shortly before midday today. 

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the car were uninjured.

The road is currently closed and local traffic diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested to attend the scene and the local coroner has been notified.
