A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital in Dublin - in a serious condition - following a road traffic collision in Cavan this afternoon.
The collision - involving a car and a motorcycle - happened on the Cavan bypass at around 5pm.
The motorcyclist - a 44-year-old man - was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin in a serious condition.
The driver of the car - a 24-year-old man - was arrested at the scene and he is currently detained at Cavan Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
There were no other injuries.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact Cavan Garda station.
