Homeless groups say Minister Eoghan Murphy's housing plan has failed.

It's after a further rise in the number of people in emergency accommodation.

9,891 men, women and children were homeless in July - up 19 since June.

Anthony Flynn, the CEO of Inner City Helping Homeless suggests it's going to get worse, claiming the Government's responses to the crisis are "just not good enough".

A 14-year-old boy is due back before the Children’s Court this morning charged with the murder of schoolgirl Ana Kriegel.

The body of the 14-year-old Kildare girl was found in an disused building in Lucan, Co Dublin over three months ago.

The 14-year-old accused has been before the courts a number of times since he was first charged and was granted bail earlier this month.

Earlier this week a 13-year-old boy, who has also been charged with her murder, was sent forward for trial.

The former Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Alex Salmond has resigned as a member of the party following allegations of sexual harassment.

In a statement he says he wanted to avoid internal division within the party, which has faced calls to suspend him.

The ex-Scottish first minister denies the accusations, and has launched a legal challenge to the Scottish government's complaints process.

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan and the Acting Garda Commissioner Dónall Ó Cualáin will today officially open the new Kevin Street Garda Station in Dublin city centre.

It's been under construction since 2015 and is one of a number of major Garda projects underway around the country.

Local Dublin City Councillor Mannix Flynn says it's a welcome relief for the inner city.

A Dublin branch of Lidl that was looted and destroyed during Storm Emma in March will re-open this morning.

The Fortunestown branch was destroyed by vandals using a stolen digger, with videos of the incident going viral.

A brand new and bigger store has now been built on the site.
