The Peter McVerry Trust is opening 20 new cold weather beds for homeless people in Dublin today.
The homeless and housing charity has recently opened 12 new studio apartments and a new family service that will help 17 adults and 27 children move out of emergency hotel rooms before Christmas.
It says the 20 new beds will reduce the number of people sleeping rough in the city.

A mother and daughter who lost their lives in a road crash in Co Cork yesterday have been named locally.
Geraldine Clancy (58) and her daughter Louise (22) from Leitrim near Kilworth, died when their car collided with another vehicle near Fermoy at around 11.30 yesterday morning.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of a crash.

Train drivers at Irish Rail have warned the company that they are on a collision course over new DART timetables.
Members of the National Bus and Rail Workers Union have rejected a new roster to facilitate the new ten minute DART service due to begin next month.
The NBRU says the rosters are "unworkable" and have accused the company of heightening tensions.
