Police have arrested the father and brother of one of the Islamic State terror gang who killed 129 people in Paris on Friday night, according to reports in French media this morning.

He has been named by politicians as 29-year-old Ismael Omar Mostefai.

He was a Frenchman from Paris who was known to be close to radical Islam, but had never been linked to terrorism.

Three other people with links to Islamic State have been arrested in Belgium.

350 people were injured in the co-ordinated attacks - including one Irish person.

Three days of mourning are underway in France for the victims of the Paris attacks.

Here at home, Irish flags will fly at half mast in solidarity with those affected.

In Galway the Cathedral and NUI Galway will light up in red, white and blue as a mark of respect from 7pm.

An investigation is underway after a man in his 20s died while in Garda custody in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened in Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport at around 1pm, after the man was refused permission to pass through the security checkpoint.

The matter has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman by the gardaí.

A 41-year-old Frenchman has been charged with possession of an air rifle and a knife, following a major security alert at Gatwick Airport.

The airport's North Terminal was closed for more than six hours on Saturday morning after police were alerted to the "suspicious actions" of a man.

A man was seen to discard an item in an airport bin in the "landside" area of the airport which precedes the security checks, police said.
