Finance Minister Michael Noonan has accused Fianna Fáil of wiping billions off the value of Irish bank shares, just by publishing a bill.

The Fine Gael TD claimed bank shares fell by 10% after Fianna Fáil last night introduced proposed legislation to put a limit on variable mortgage rates.

Under the bill, the Central Bank would be given powers to cap the amount banks charge for standard variable mortgages.

Garda forensic experts will continue examining the scene of a fatal two-car crash in Cork this morning.

One man in his 20s died and another man, also in his 20s, suffered critical injuries in the collision at Leemount Cross in Ballincollig last night.

Three men and two women were hurt, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders has won one of the latest rounds of voting in the US presidential race.

Hillary Clinton eked out a photo finish win in Kentucky's primary, but her White House claimed a solid victory in Oregon.

However, Mrs Clinton remains on track to clinch the party's presidential nomination in early June.

Gardaí have arrested two men as part of the investigation into the murder of David Byrne.

Mr Byrne (32) was killed after gunmen stormed the Regency Hotel in Drumcondra during a boxing weigh-in on February 5th.

Two men - aged in their 30s and 50s - were detained yesterday in connection with the murder.

Donald Trump has said he would be prepared to meet Kim Jong-Un and speak to him about scaling back North Korea's nuclear ambitions.

"I would speak to him, I would have no problem speaking to him," he told the Reuters news agency.

The presumptive Republican nominee for the White House also said he would press China, Pyongyang's only major diplomatic and economic supporter, to help find a solution.
