An Irishman's been charged in the UK with illegally importing firearms after 60 guns were found hidden in a car.

37 year old Robert Keogh, from Dublin, is to appear at Margate Magistrates' Court tomorrow charged with the offence.

The National Crime Agency say the haul's believed to be the largest seizure of lethal purpose weapons at a port in the UK.

It was discovered by officers who stopped a car arriving at the Port of Dover from Calais on Friday.

Two people were rescued off the coast of Donegal last night.

The Irish Naval Service says the LÉ CIARA responded to a distress call from a small craft taking on water.

It was located four miles north of Fanad Head, two people were onboard.

The naval vessel stayed with the small craft before Lough Swilly RNLI towed the boat to safety.
