Shots fired at Cabra House

A number of shots were fired at a house on St Attracta Road in Cabra last night.

The windows at the front of the building were damaged but no-one inside the house was injured. 
 
Armed Gardai responded and a series of searches got underway, while the scene of the shooting was preserved for a technical examination.  
 
Gardaí at Mountjoy are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 01- 6668600 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
 

Aggravated Burglary in Sligo

An elderly woman was threatened and attacked by an intruder in her house in Carrickbanagher near Colooney at around 2.30am on Saturday.
 
The man, who was wearing dark clothing, left the house on foot with a number of items and a sum of cash.
 
The alarm was raised when another family member returned home a short time later and the pensioner's being treated for her injuries in hospital.
 
Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in Drumfin between midnight and 3am on Saturday and saw any suspicious activity to contact them.
 

Five killed in Louisiana shooting

Police in the US state of Louisiana are searching for a gunman suspected of killing five people in two separate but related shootings.
 
The shootings happened in the parishes of Ascension and Livingston, south of the state capital of Baton Rouge.
 
Authorities say 21-year-old Dakota Theriot fled in a stolen pick-up truck.
 
Two of the victims were his parents. 
 

27 dead in Philippines bomb attack

At least 27 people have been killed by two bombs at a cathedral in the Philippines. 
 
It happened days after southern Muslim majority areas backed a deal to give them more autonomy, although this was rejected on the island of Jolo where the attack took place. 
 

Holocaust victims to be remembered in Dublin

The six million Jewish people who died in the Holocaust are to be remembered in Dublin today.
 
Irish survivors of the mass murders and their families will attend an event at the Mansion House later.
 
The National Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration will also honour millions of others who were persecuted and murdered.
