Nearly 4,000 homes and businesses are without power this morning as Storm Lorenzo makes its way across the country.

The ESB says power outages are being reported in Swinford and Newport in Mayo, Dingle in Kerry, Clifden and Kilcoglan in Galway and in Dublin city centre.

Charleville in Cork and Kilcolgan in Galway are the worst effected - with over 1,100 power cuts reported.

While all weather warnings have ended.

Nearly 65,000 Junior Certificate students will receive their exam results later.

Students can get their results from their school or online, but the online option will not be accessible until 4.00pm.

For anyone not happy with their marks, appeals have to be made no later than 5.00pm this day week.

Parents still have time to express their preference for the patron of new secondary schools.

They have until midnight Friday to take part in the Department of Education's Online Patronage Process System for six areas.

The schools are to open in 2020 in areas like Blanchardstown, Citywest and Clonskeagh in Dublin and Enfield in Meath.

A windsurfer is safe after going missing off the Kerry coast during Storm Lorenzo.

He made his own way ashore last night.

The man got into difficulty when he was blown off shore near Stradbally Beach in West Kerry and ended up near another beach seven kilometres away - around 40 minutes after he went missing.

Talks will continue in Brussels today between the British government and EU negotiators - but the signs are not good for hopes of a Brexit deal.

EU leaders say they are unconvinced by the new UK proposals.

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has warned that the plans on the Irish border "fall short in a number of ways."
