What does Mercedes-Benz mean when they talk about “Intelligent Drive”? Well when they talk about it they say it stands for the "networking of systems, sensors and algorithms for enhanced comfort and safety.” This week the manufacturer showed how the future might look in terms of “Intelligent Drive” through their autonomously driving research car, the F 015 “Luxury in Motion,” which was originally revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) back in January 2015.

With this concept car drivers will be able to choose whether they want to let the car drive, or take the controls themselves. The manufacturer tells us that the car’s role is evolving from a means of transport to “a comfortable retreat” too.

The interior, we’re told, shows six high-res displays which sit in the dashboard, along the sides and in the back of the vehicle. According to Mercedes-Benz, passengers within the vehicle can interact with the F 015 by “eye-tracking, gesture control or touching the screens. They get information about the environment, use the entertainment system, make video calls or bring virtual worlds into the car.”

Another innovative aspect of this car is the interior seating arrangement. It contains four rotating lounge chairs. Which means that passengers can all look at each other (if they so wish!) while the car is in motion.
